Teiber Trio Biography | Regino Madrid | Charlie Powers | Derek Smith
Originally founded in 2007 by three members of “The President’s Own” US Marine Chamber Orchestra, the Teiber String Trio (Regino Madrid, violin; Derek Smith, viola; Charlie Powers, cello) has quickly established itself as one of the finest chamber ensembles in the mid-Atlantic region. In addition to performing master works of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Dohnanyi, and others, the Teiber Trio is committed to exploring the vast array of relatively unknown pieces in the string trio literature. Trained at the Cleveland Institute, the Manhattan School, and the New England Conservatory, the Trio’s members have studied and performed chamber music with the Guarneri, Juilliard, American, Miró, Borromeo, and Cleveland string quartets. Each member of the Teiber String Trio appears regularly with many local ensembles, including the National Symphony Orchestra, the White House Chamber Orchestra, the National Philharmonic, the National Gallery Orchestra, Eclipse Chamber Orchestra, Fessenden, and the McLean Orchestra.
